Dodgeball, football and hockey were among activities at a Sports Camp organised in memory of Sam White by the school he attended.

Emma Marum, 13, a young sports leader at The Newark Academy, organised the event at the school’s Lilley and Stone site. Emma said:

“Being a young sports leader has given me the communication and leadership qualities to succeed in the future.

“Not only that, it also gives me the opportunity to organise events such as these to represent The Newark Academy and raise money for a worthy cause like the Sam White Legacy.”

The event was for primary school pupils. The money raised will go to the Sam White Legacy, which raises money for brain tumour research.

Sam’s mother, Mrs Pam White, said: “Emma has organised this with the support of the school and volunteers. It’s extra special because Sam was also a sports leader and he was so passionate about it.”

Emma thanked Ali Hamilton, community engagement co-ordinator at the Newark Family of Schools, for helping to organise the event.
